Job Description
Nature of Work:
- Maintenance, service and repair of all company vehicles and machinery.
- Assist in construction of new machinery
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must demonstrate special mechanical abilities
- Must be knowledgeable in:
- Diesel engine service & maintenance
- Gasoline engine service & maintenance
- Small engine repair & maintenance
- Electrical repairs
- Gear box service & repair
- Tire repair
- Must be familiar with safe and proper operating techniques of:
- Welding equipment
- Power tools, air tools, and hand tools
- Must be capable of keeping complete and accurate service/maintenance records.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- See that machine problems are investigated in a timely fashion.
- In event of a conflict, seek priorities from one of the owners and perform work accordingly.
- Do regular inspections of engine driven machinery including shop machinery, excluding sawmill machinery except when assistance is required.
- Ensure that all safety guards are in place.
- All equipment, tools, buildings, support equipment and connected systems are expected to be maintained clean, safe, and in good working condition and reasonably clear of debris.
- Perform service, maintenance, and repair in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner.
- Maintain service record files.
- Must set up service schedules according to manufacturer's recommendations.
- Order parts from approved vendors and schedule delivery as required.
- Document and report accidents, "near misses", and incidents to the office.
- Interacts with public courteously and professionally at all times.
Non-Essential/As Needed Job Functions:
- Assist in construction of new machinery if work load permits
- May be required to perform other job duties as they arise.
Supervision Received:
- Under the direct supervision of the Head Mechanic. Under the general supervision of the owners.
