Job Description
About the Role Don's Repair is a full-service automotive repair shop serving Burley, ID and the surrounding community, with a reputation built on distinctive quality and unequaled customer service. As the business grows — expanding the current location ahead of opening a second — the shop needs a true A-level technician who can be trusted with any vehicle that rolls through the bay. This is the top technical seat in the shop. You own the hard diagnoses — the intermittent electrical gremlin, the no-code driveability complaint, the repair the last shop gave up on. You're the person who figures out what's actually wrong, fixes it right the first time, and keeps cars moving without comebacks. Every technician here works with a computer-based diagnostic setup, and you'll be expected to use those tools fluently. Just as important as your wrench skills is how you carry yourself. Don's Repair runs on Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, and Humility — "no job is too small for anyone." Success in six months looks like a dependable A-tech who diagnoses accurately, works efficiently under pressure, lifts the whole team's quality bar, and helps coach and mold the junior techs coming up behind them. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair all vehicle types and systems — engine, electrical, driveability, brakes, steering/suspension, HVAC, and drivetrain. Accurately troubleshoot complex and intermittent problems, including no-code and customer-described symptoms. Use computer-based diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and service information to pinpoint root cause. Perform repairs correctly the first time to minimize comebacks and protect the shop's reputation. Road-test vehicles before and after repair to verify the complaint and the fix. Document diagnoses, work performed, and recommended future work clearly and honestly. Manage your bay efficiently to meet labor-time expectations without sacrificing quality. Coach, check, and help mold junior technicians; serve as a technical resource in the shop. Communicate clearly with the service writer/owner on diagnosis, parts, and timing. Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area and care for shop tools and equipment. Stay current on new vehicle technology and diagnostic methods. Uphold the company's core values in every customer and teammate interaction. What We're Looking For Non-Negotiables Proven ability to work on and correctly diagnose any type of vehicle (true A-level / master-level skill). Strong diagnostic reasoning on challenging and intermittent repairs. Efficient and composed under pressure and time constraints. Comfortable and fluent with computer-based diagnostics and scan tools. Team-first, humble attitude — willing to help coworkers and put the shop first. Valid driver's license and clean enough record to road-test customer vehicles. Nice to Have ASE certifications (Master Technician / L1 Advanced Engine Performance). Experience coaching or mentoring junior technicians. Track record of low comeback rates and high efficiency. Own set of professional tools. Familiarity with makes/models common to rural Idaho (trucks, fleet, diesel a plus). Field Requirements Onsite role at the Burley, ID shop. Physical demands typical of automotive repair: standing for long periods, lifting up to ~50 lbs, working in/under vehicles, and using power and hand tools. Road-testing customer vehicles required. No regular travel beyond the shop. Compensation & Benefits $65,000 - $80,000 depending on experience 401k with employer match

hours after 6 months Growth Opportunity This is a foundational technical hire during a clear growth phase. As Don's Repair expands the current location and works toward a second, the A-level technician is positioned to become a lead technician / shop technical lead — setting quality standards, mentoring the bench, and influencing how the second location is staffed and run.
