Responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of school district vehicles—including buses, pickups, and cars—to ensure safe and efficient transportation services that support the educational mission.Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in an automotive/diesel repair shop. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic brake systems, wiring, transmissions (automatic and manual), gas and diesel engines, and school bus bodies. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements within 60 days of hire (required condition of employment). Possess a current DOT physical card or the ability to obtain one. Basic welding skills. ASE certification preferred or willingness to become certified.Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair school district buses, vehicles, and equipment. Conduct regular preventive maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe and fully operational. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order. Keep accurate records of maintenance work and parts usage. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Serve as a substitute bus driver when required. Adhere to all Board policies and safety regulations. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities that are legal, moral and ethical as the district may assign. Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodations): Strong verbal communication and listening skills. Ability to read, understand, and respond to written instructions and documents. Visual and physical ability to safely operate vehicles and monitor student behavior. Dexterity and physical strength to operate equipment and lift/move heavy objects (up to 100 lbs occasionally; up to 50 lbs frequently). Capability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting. Ability to work in various weather conditions.Evaluation:
