Job Description

State of Idaho Career Opportunity Applications will be accepted through 11:59 PM MST on the posting end date. Description To perform journey-level maintenance, repair and overhaul of gasoline and/or diesel-powered vehicles, equipment and related hydraulic, electrical, and electronic component systems; perform related work. Examples of Duties Diagnosing and repairing gasoline and/or diesel automotive and construction-type equipment Using mechanics' tools and related specialized equipment to perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of engines and related drive train, electrical, and hydraulic systems Preparing records and reports; diagnosing and repairing electronic and computer-controlled motor vehicle systems Reading and interpreting technical service manuals Position requires employee to accept rotational on-call assignments to serve as the CDA Shop duty officer for after-hours mechanic-related work during fire season. This may require mechanics to repair fire apparatus on or near the fire grounds and or in remote locations. Overtime, weekend work and travel will be likely, especially during the summer months Safety precautions and procedures relating to mechanical equipment and repair shops The use, care, and disposal of hazardous automotive material and waste Preparing documents and using other forms to record purchasing Minimum Qualifications Good knowledge of: Safety precautions and procedures relating to mechanical equipment and repair shops The use, care, and disposal of hazardous automotive material and waste Desired Qualifications Experience working with F-150 - 550s Operating equipment such as forklifts and loaders, and driving a truck and trailer Assembling and or fabricating wildland firefighting equipment and/or apparatus
