K Job Details Job Summary:
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Determines the overall mechanical condition of tractors, trailers and associated equipment, diagnoses component malfunctions and initiates repair actions. Repairs components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts. Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub- assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, steering, hydraulics; control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers. Perform annual/systematic 90 day and HM-183 inspections (tankers) on equipment as required. Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards. Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed. Order and receive parts and supplies as needed. Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste. Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety. Using welding equipment. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. PerformHM-183 DOT

Must possess at least 3 years of experience in repair and service of trailers and medium duty trucks. Required to have demonstrated knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Required to have demonstrated knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures. Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software. Up to 3 years as a fleet mechanic.DOT HM-183
certification, Training or experience. ASE Certification not required but recommended. R Stamp Certification (Able to make barrel repairs on cargo tanks)Education and Experience:
High school diploma, completion of G.E.D Required.Additional Job Information Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, Hours depend on location.Company Information Work Environment :
The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs. Able to fit into a 20" cargo trailer dome opening. Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness- max weight 310 lbs.
