The Maintenance/Automotive Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs to automobiles and greenhouse equipment. The Maintenance/Automotive key role is to ensure efficient daily operations of greenhouse equipment. Reports to the Granville Facilities Maintenance Manager, but in close and constant collaboration with the Growing staff and Operations Manager. Duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to: Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair gas and diesel-powered buses, trucks, automobiles, and other power equipment Performs general over-haul, installation, repair, replacement, and adjustment of bearings, ignitions, carburetors, transmissions, differentials, axles, steering mechanisms, drive shafts, fenders, radiators, and front end and rear suspension systems (unless directed to contract out). Performs preventative maintenance to machines, building, and greenhouse systems to ensure efficient operations Install, assemble and test new machines and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety regulations Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them. Ensure that all equipment and greenhouse systems are operating properly Ensure the successful implementation and installation of new equipment Ensure assignments are completed on schedule, efficiently, and safely. Evaluate the working operation of the facility and take corrective actions as needed Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions Communicate problems and solutions with management Other duties assigned by manager Required skill set: Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills and a self-starter Ability to relate to and work with persons of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds Must be comfortable working at heights up to 16' Must be comfortable working in hot/cold conditions Bilingual Spanish a plus Able to work night or weekend shifts as needed. Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, or 2-4 years of equivalent work experience Trade school or special training preferred. Physical Demands:
