Job Description

The Fleet Services Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring operational readiness and reliability of all Village vehicles and equipment, supporting Public Works, Fire, Police and other departments. This position exercises independent judgment in managing fleet operations and provides data-driven recommendations related to fleet replacement, specification development, and capital improvement planning. The Fleet Supervisor is accountable for maintaining fleet readiness, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance across all Village fleet operations. As Fleet Services Supervisor you will: • Direct, supervise, and evaluate Fleet Services personnel, including mechanics and support staff. Develop and implement daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance schedules aligned with operational demands and service expectations. Monitor and achieve performance benchmarks including fleet availability, preventative maintenance compliance, shop productivity, and equipment downtime; implement corrective actions as needed. • Manage the full lifecycle of fleet assets, including acquisition, utilization, preventative and corrective maintenance, and disposal. Develop and maintain data-driven replacement schedules based on mileage, engine hours, condition assessments, maintenance costs, and lifecycle cost analysis. Utilize fleet analytics, telematics systems, and maintenance data to support predictive maintenance strategies and optimize asset performance. Maintain accurate fleet records within enterprise asset management systems. • Oversee outsourced fleet services including major repairs, warranty work, and specialty services. Establish and enforce performance standards related to cost, quality, and timeliness. Evaluate and balance in-house versus outsourced work to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.
COMPENSATION 2026
Public Works Supervisor Step Range of $115,012.00 to $127,013.00.

HOURS AND SCHEDULE
Primarily, Monday through Friday between the hours of 06:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; some overnight and/or weekend hours when on call or in response to weather events or other emergencies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPUTER SKILLS
Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience is preferred but not required. Valid Illinois Driver's License is required. Class B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement required within 6 months of hire. Underground storage tank certification within 6 months of hire. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification preferred. Experience with Computerized Fleet Analysis (CFA), Fuel Master, Microsoft Office Suite; OpenGov Asset Management experience is a plus High school diploma or general education degree (GED) A technical school/certification program or coursework in Automotive Services or a related field is preferred.
