Role:
Hupp ToyotaLift is looking for a full-time Road Service Tech. to ensure smooth operations within the Bloomington, IL Area, this is based out of the Peoria branch. As a leading dealer of Toyota forklifts and other material handling equipment, Hupp ToyotaLift has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and results-driven team member. The Road Service Technician plays a critical role in providing timely and effective roadside assistance to customers experiencing vehicle breakdowns or emergencies. This position requires the technician to diagnose mechanical issues, perform repairs, and ensure vehicles are safely operational to minimize customer inconvenience. The technician will be responsible for responding promptly to service calls, often in varied and challenging environments, demonstrating both technical expertise and strong customer service skills. Success in this role directly impacts customer satisfaction and the reputation of the service provider. Ultimately, the Road Service Technician ensures that customers receive reliable, professional assistance that gets them back on the road safely and efficiently.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Proven experience in automotive repair or roadside assistance. Ability to operate diagnostic and repair tools safely and effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.Preferred Qualifications:
Certification from an accredited automotive technician program (e.g., ASE certification). Experience with a wide range of vehicle makes and models, including light trucks and commercial vehicles. Familiarity with GPS and dispatch software for efficient route management. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong interpersonal skills and experience in customer-facing roles.Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to roadside service calls including jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, fuel delivery, and minor mechanical repairs. Diagnose vehicle issues accurately using diagnostic tools and mechanical knowledge to determine the best course of action. Perform on-site repairs and maintenance to restore vehicle functionality or safely transport the vehicle if necessary. Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions to ensure accurate reporting and follow-up. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers to explain services provided, estimated timelines, and safety precautions.Skills:
The Road Service Technician utilizes mechanical skills daily to diagnose and repair vehicle issues efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime for customers. Communication skills are essential for explaining technical information clearly and providing reassurance during stressful roadside situations. Time management and organizational skills help prioritize service calls and maintain accurate service records. Technical proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment is critical for effective troubleshooting and repair.
