PDW is now hiring Experienced Automotive Mechanics to work with a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier, building experimental prototypes and performing cutting-edge retrofits. This Full-time Experienced Automotive Mechanic position offers an AM day shift plus overtime as needed and is based in Allen Park, MI. Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain prototype vehicles Perform a variety of mechanical, electrical and diagnostic tasks Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs Work closely with engineers and test teams to troubleshoot issues Maintain accurate repair and service documentation Ensure a safe and organized work environment
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of hands-on automotive mechanic experience working in a shop environment Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent required Familiarity with basic automotive systems (removing the dashboard and replacing airbags, engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, etc.) Mechanical ability to operate shop equipment Must own your own tools with a rolling lockable toolbox (Don't worry—we offer a toolbox program if needed!) Ability to read and follow technical instructions, schematics and written procedures Strong work ethic and attention to detail Must have reliable attendance and the willingness to work overtime/weekends Preferred Qualifications (not required): Valid driver's license and good driving record ASE certifications Ford experience Prototype/Retro-fit experience Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C? systems repairs, tire machines and balancers Technical experience in automotive, diesel, electronics or similar fields strongly preferred
