The Automotive Fleet Technician makes service repairs and performs maintenance on one or more makes of automotive equipment including but not limited to fleet vehicles, dump trucks, backhoes, vactors, sweepers, flushers, bulldozers, and tractors used in daily operations at various facilities.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment such as changing oil, repairing or replacing tires, lubing chassis, changing air and fuels filters, checking fluids. Complete inspections of parts and engines for abnormalities. Road test vehicles, perform routine maintenance on various equipment such as pumps, compressors, generators, etc. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE). A valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain. Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties. Provide on the job training.

RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS

Regularly inspect the working conditions and maintain the cleanliness of equipment and surrounding areas. Handle inventory control by maintaining purchased items, open orders, back orders and repair orders. Complete scheduled preventative maintenance on tools and equipment. Perform related work duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES KNOWLEDGE OF

All automotive repairs Computerized Maintenance Management System Receiving, warehouse/inventory, and service contracting procedures and applications/systems Tools, materials, methods and practices used to repair heavy machinery and equipment

Initiate and complete repairs on various vehicles and equipment Use basic technology Exercise proficiency on various job duties as well as all the equipment used on the job Effectively query and generate work orders and to maintain and update various databases and automated records Replace and repair major equipment and vehicles

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

(position requirements at entry) Education equivalent to completion of two (2) years in and preferably graduation from a four (4) year trade or vocational high school with courses in general shop and automotive repair OR equivalent years of service Specialty Mechanic License
