Job Description
Prototype Technician, Electrical We are seeking an E lectrical Prototype Vehicle Technician to support prototype builds, component modifications, testing preparation, and hands ‑ on fabrication work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys automotive diagnostics, wiring, light fabrication, and assembling unique vehicle systems in a fast ‑ paced environment. The hourly pay rate for this long-term contract opportunity is $26.50-$31.50/hr Key Responsibilities Assist with the completion of in ‑ house experimental vehicle builds, rebuilds, and component modification projects Fabricate parts from detailed prints or engineering layouts Assemble prototype vehicles and components based on drawings or verbal instructions Modify and update parts by machine or by hand Support instrumentation installation and vehicle prep for compliance testing Perform rivet welding, machining, assembly, and installation of parts and components Build wiring harnesses from prints; perform bench and in ‑ vehicle electrical diagnostics Support testing activities and evaluate part/component performance Provide diagnostics on powertrain, cooling, fuel, electrical, and HVAC systems Train new mechanics as needed Perform additional duties as assigned Required Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required 1-3 years of related technical experience ASE Certification preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints Light fabrication and welding capabilities Experience with wiring harness tools, testers, meters, cutters, crimpers, and diagnostic tools CDL preferred, or willingness to obtain Basic computer skills Physical Requirements Ability to read screens, documents, and detailed prints Regular communication and hearing capability Strong hand ‑ eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to bend, stretch, twist, climb, kneel, and move throughout the facility Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally Capability to push, pull, or carry components when required Stamina for repetitive, strenuous, or extended physical tasks Working Conditions Work occurs in both office and manufacturing environments Exposure to varying temperatures, weather, heights, and loud noise Requires teamwork, strong listening skills, and ability to follow detailed instructions Methodical, process-driven approach needed for smooth workflow Ability to maintain focus in a fast ‑ paced environment with repetitive tasks Travel Requirements Up to 30% travel may be required to support prototype activities #ZR #IND1
