People • Customers • Trust Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms preventive maintenance on trailer equipment.
Performs troubleshooting and root cause analysis of repair issues.
Service and repair trailers.
Utilizes manuals, work orders, hand and power tools, and measuring tools to complete tasks.
Assembles, disassembles, repairs, replaces parts as needed.
Electrical repairs and general maintenance.
Welding and fabrication.
Service and repair ABS systems.
Ability to diagnose using computer diagnostic equipment.
Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
Reports all maintenance issues and malfunctions.
Follows safety regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and ExperienceTypically possesses High School diploma (or equivalent) and minimum 2+ years of experience.
Proven working experience as a mechanic working on semi-trucks and trailers.
You will need to have a variety of hands on skillsYou will need to know how to safely operate and maintain your equipmentExperience in repair and maintenance of semi-trailersKnowledge of air brakes and electrical systems on semi-trailersExperience using hand and power toolsOwn a basic tool setAble to work in a shop environmentAble to lift 50 poundsReliable transportationAttention to detail in all aspects of the jobKnowledge and SkillsGood organizational skills and attention to detail.
Good customer service skills.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with customers and colleagues.
Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
Specialized driver's license(s), such as commercial driver's license preferred.
Master Heavy Duty Mechanic certification for the state of Michigan•preferred or able to obtain within 1 year of hire date.
Repair specialty required:
HDT Engine Repair•GasolineHDT Engine Repair•DieselHDT DrivetrainHDT Brakes and Braking SystemsHDT Suspension and Steering SystemsHDT Electrical Systems Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary for position: $29.00 per hour.
Paid Holidays.
Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages•medical, dental, and vision•and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
