The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically skilled, and capable of working independently to keep our fleet operating efficiently, safely, and ready to support critical infrastructure projects throughout the region. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair operational issues with heavy-duty trucks, trailers, sewer cleaning equipment, vacuum trucks, hydro-excavation units, and related equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Complete work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and parts requests accurately and timely. Plan and schedule repairs while coordinating parts procurement to minimize equipment downtime. Review driver and operator equipment write-ups and prioritize repairs based on safety and operational needs. Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, engine, drivetrain, braking, suspension, and vacuum systems. Perform welding, fabrication, and minor equipment modifications as needed. Utilize diagnostic software, hand tools, power tools, and specialized repair equipment. Maintain personal tools necessary to perform assigned maintenance and repair tasks. Assist with DOT inspections, equipment compliance requirements, and fleet readiness initiatives. Keep the shop, work areas, and service vehicles clean, organized, and professional. Support the training and development of new mechanics and shop personnel. Maintain current knowledge of equipment technology, repair procedures, and industry best practices through ongoing training. Respond to emergency repair situations when required. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety policies and applicable regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Required Experience & Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a heavy-duty truck, diesel, fleet, or heavy equipment mechanic. Experience maintaining and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pumps, vacuum systems, trailers, or construction equipment preferred. Experience using diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting equipment is a plus. Valid driver's license required. CDL preferred or willingness to obtain. Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing requirements for safety-sensitive positions. Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn fleet maintenance software systems. Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Ability to read and understand repair manuals, schematics, service bulletins, and parts catalogs. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, drivers, and team members. Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and preventative maintenance practices. Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment necessary to perform job duties. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, and work in confined spaces as required. Ability to use hands and fingers for handling tools, equipment, and repair components. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 100 pounds. Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods. Continuous visual attention required for inspections, diagnostics, and repair work. Ability to safely perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
