Historically, TYC Americas (TYCA) focused on warehousing and distribution of automotive components. Our new Michigan location in Wixom, MI is the first development and manufacturing site outside of Asia and will focus on the development and production of OEM Tier 1 mobility lighting products. Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Laboratory Test Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a variety of tests on automotive lighting products to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and other team members. The Laboratory Test technician will also have the responsibility to set-up and operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Job Description Our Laboratory Technician is responsible for the following: Perform tests on automotive lighting products, including photometric, electrical, and environmental tests. Set up and operate laboratory equipment machinery and instruments. Prepare detailed test reports and documentation. Assist in the development and implementation of new testing procedures. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean and organized work environment. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations. Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to measure and inspect parts and components. Interpret and analyze CMM data to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards. Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM and other laboratory equipment. Document and report test data and measurement results, identifying any deviations from specifications, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any measurement-related issues. While the Lab Technician is not a people-leading role, leadership and teamwork skills are desired in all candidates. Familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing procedures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience operating and programming CMM equipment. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles. Qualifications Desired Detailed experience in optical or photometric testing Detailed experience in use and programming of Coordinate Measuring Machines Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
