Job Description

Job Title:
Mechanic Job Description Join a family-owned, full-service repair and custom truck operation that specializes in body swaps, truck installations, hydraulic and electrical repair, and DOT inspections on heavy-duty trucks such as tow trucks, garbage trucks, and construction equipment. As a Mechanic, you will perform a wide range of diagnostic, repair, and upfitting work on trucks and heavy equipment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and documentation. Responsibilities Perform repairs on heavy equipment and trucks, including dump trucks, hook lifts, roll-off trucks, rear loader garbage trucks, street sweepers, and yard tractors. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues involving hydraulic systems, pumps, meters, and valves. Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including 12-volt systems and related wiring. Perform trailer and truck repairs such as replacing doors, repairing or replacing interior and exterior side walls, repairing and replacing marker and brake lights, and resolving dolly leg issues. Troubleshoot and repair air compressor systems on trucks and trailers. Upfit and modify equipment as needed to meet customer specifications and operational requirements. Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to guide diagnostic and repair work. Perform welding and basic fabrication tasks as part of repairs and custom modifications. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment and trucks. Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems and components, including pumps, meters, valves, and cylinders. Familiarity with electrical systems and wiring, including troubleshooting 12-volt systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Mechanical aptitude with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for heavy-duty trucks and equipment. Fundamental welding skills suitable for repair and modification work. Experience working with pneumatic systems on trucks and heavy equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with various fabrication tools such as plasma cutters and drills. Custom truck experience, including body swaps, installations, and specialized upfitting. Advanced welding skills for structural and cosmetic repairs. Prior experience working in a full-service truck or heavy equipment repair facility. Comfort working on diverse equipment types, including tow trucks, garbage trucks, construction equipment, and street sweepers. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. The facility is designed for heavy-duty truck and equipment repair, including areas for hydraulic, electrical, welding, and fabrication work. You will work primarily in an indoor mechanic shop setting, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, fabrication equipment such as plasma cutters and drills, and welding equipment. The environment supports efficient workflow on large vehicles like dump trucks, roll-offs, garbage trucks, and construction equipment, with ample space and equipment to perform diagnostics, repairs, and custom upfits comfortably. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Blaine, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
