Job Description

Description:
The Mechanic position plays a crucial role in our operations, encompassing a broad range of responsibilities in the mechanical repair and service of various automotive and construction equipment. This includes work on gas, diesel, and electrically powered vehicles, as well as troubleshooting and repairing various systems. The Mechanic is also tasked with record-keeping, auxiliary equipment maintenance, and ensuring the operational efficiency of all equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul mechanical systems, including engines, hydrostatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, and direct others in these tasks. Read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and charts for effective equipment servicing. Utilize vehicle evaluation devices, lift mechanisms, and a range of tools and equipment for maintenance and repair. Use diagnostic and measuring equipment, such as DVOMs, micrometers, and torque wrenches. Take ownership of maintenance tasks and seek opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Fabricate parts to keep equipment operational within manufacturer specifications. Manage costs effectively by utilizing warranties and minimizing outsourcing. Execute welding, soldering, brazing, and cutting tasks. Maintain vehicle appearance through cleaning, washing, and painting as needed. Maintain tools and shop equipment, ensuring a clean and safe work environment. Provide personal tools for maintenance tasks. Available for late hour plowing, grooming, etc. as needed. Available for scheduled work and emergency repair situations (which include weekends, nights, etc.).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Coordinate staff schedules and directly train staff, approving or rejecting work as needed. Assist in interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and conducting evaluations of employees in line with Spirit Mountain guidelines.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Post-secondary program completion or journeyman certification in a related field. 4 or more years of verifiable work experience as a vehicle mechanic. Valid Minnesota Class D driver's license. Comprehensive knowledge of repair techniques for various systems. Certified knowledge in welding and cutting applications. Familiarity with industry safety standards, including OSHA regulations. Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Capable of independent decision-making and problem-solving. Reliable and flexible, available for night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and under imposed deadlines. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, lift, bend, and stoop for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
