Job Description

Mechanic - Truck Equipment Installation & Repair $30-35 in Fridley Job Overview We're hiring a hands-on mechanic to install, repair, and customize dump trucks, municipal trucks, and related equipment. This is a fast-paced shop role with a lot of variety—ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands and solving mechanical problems. What You'll Do Install and repair: Dump bodies, hoists, hydraulics Liftgates, tarps, plows, sanders, accessories Perform MIG welding and basic fabrication Complete 12V wiring and electrical installs Use plasma or oxy-acetylene cutting tools Read blueprints and work orders Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues Operate forklifts and overhead cranes Test equipment to ensure safe operation Work closely with a team in a busy shop What We're Looking For Strong mechanical aptitude (truck or heavy equipment preferred) Experience with: Hydraulics and 12V electrical Welding and fabrication Ability to read prints and troubleshoot issues Comfortable using hand and power tools Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stay active throughout the shift Team player with a safety-first mindset Nice to Have Experience with dump or municipal trucks Job shop or dealership experience DOT inspection experience What You'll Get Family-oriented company culture Training and advancement opportunities Competitive benefits: Health, dental, vision, life insurance PTO, holidays, 401(k) Tool support (reimbursement, repair assistance, toolbox programs) Company events, meals, and recognition programs Work Environment & Schedule Shop setting (similar to truck dealership) Work on large trucks and equipment Team-based, fast-paced environment 1st
Shift:
7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Optional overtime available Occasional Saturdays PPE required (steel-toe boots, safety glasses) Uniforms and boot allowance provided Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
