Mendota Heights, MN Job type: Full-Time / Year-Round (although the shop does close for 3 weeks over winter) Pay Type /Range:
Journeyman Union Scale (Field Rate vs. Shop Rate). $44.05- $48.

Job Summary:
The Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all on road trucks, including Quints, Quads, and Tri Axles, to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role supports field and shop operations by minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The day-to-day challenges keep you on your toes with variety and teamwork along with a chance at independence. Our mechanics get to play the "hero" role each day as they help keep our jobs moving and our equipment running and operating safely. The right person for this job is focused and coachable, has the drive to learn and succeed, and can work under pressure, all while having fun!Other Requirements:

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, and preventative service Repair engines, transmissions, fuel systems, electrical systems, and emissions systems Conduct DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet compliance standards Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs Respond to breakdowns in shop and field environments as needed Inspect equipment for safety concerns and recommend corrective actions Collaborate with operations and dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Create and use routines for maintenance. Create and maintain accurate records. Communicate effectively with fellow employees for safety and efficiency. Maintain credibility and control in unusual situations. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors. Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors. Follow company and industry safety standards and procedures at all times. Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop and equipmentPreferred Education and Experience:
3+ years of experience working on heavy diesel trucks or equipment Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues independently Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain) Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics Good driving record Strong safety awareness and technical capacity Reliable and strong problem-solving skills High school education or GED equivalent. Strong team player Reliable and on-time.Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and heavier loads with assistance or mechanical lifting devices. Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching overhead. Occasional climbing on and off heavy machinery. Ability to work in confined spaces and awkward positions for extended periods. Manual dexterity for handling tools and small parts. Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, noise, and exposure to lubricants and cleaning agents. Visual and auditory ability to detect equipment malfunctions and safety hazards.Work Environment:
