Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary communicator between customers and our service technicians, ensuring a smooth, transparent, and positive service experience. Your enthusiasm for automotive repair and customer service will drive customer satisfaction and loyalty. You will be responsible for accurately documenting vehicle issues, preparing estimates, and coordinating repairs while maintaining a professional and energetic approach that motivates both customers and team members alike. Responsibilities Greet customers warmly upon arrival, listen actively to their vehicle concerns, and provide clear explanations of recommended services. Write detailed service orders, including descriptions of vehicle issues, necessary repairs, and estimated costs using auto estimating software. Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of services such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, alignments, suspension work, tire services, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repairs. Upsell additional services or maintenance based on customer needs and vehicle diagnostics to enhance vehicle performance and safety. Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining proper records of all financial dealings. Educate customers on vehicle maintenance best practices to promote long-term vehicle health and safety. Maintain a thorough understanding of automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge to answer customer questions confidently and assist with service writing when needed. Experience Previous dealership experience or auto service management background preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm for automotive repair and customer service excellence. Hands-on mechanic experience or familiarity with automotive diagnostics is highly advantageous. Knowledge of automotive repair procedures including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, alignment, suspension work, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repair is essential. Proven ability in auto estimating software and sales techniques to effectively upsell services while maintaining integrity. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to build trust and rapport with clients.
