Job Description

The Fleet Technician is responsible for maintaining the parts inventory for the maintenance shop, ordering parts, managing vendor relationships, and assisting with minor technology support. This is a safety-sensitive position. Monitor, track and order maintenance parts, fuel, shop supplies, and tools from vendors to ensure a regular inventory of supplies for the shop while staying on budget. Update AssetWorks with respect to employee access and fleet asset inventory data. Accurately code and enter invoices in GovAP. Run reports in AssetWorks. Coordinate and execute AssetWorks software maintenance and expansion. Assist in minor troubleshooting by monitoring, determining the cause of, and correcting errors. Support technicians in servicing and maintaining vehicles (i.e. changing tires, diagnosing vehicle problems). Substitute as a snowplow operator as needed. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. High School Diploma or GED and 3 years related experience as a parts manager, service manager, equipment technician, or similar position or Associates Degree/Tech Certificate and one year related experience as a parts manager, service manager, equipment technician, or similar position and Commercial Driver's License (Class A with tank endorsement) or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire MPCA Class A/B Operator license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire Forklift safety certification or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire Must be able to successfully pass Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check, including CJIS fingerprinting. All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, background investigation including FMCSA Clearinghouse, and pre-placement physical, including DOT screening and CJIS fingerprinting.
