Automotive Service Writer

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced automotive team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services. Your enthusiasm for automotive technology, combined with exceptional customer service skills, will ensure a seamless experience for clients while accurately documenting their vehicle concerns. This position offers an exciting opportunity to blend technical knowledge with sales expertise, helping customers understand their vehicle needs and recommending appropriate services to keep their vehicles running smoothly and safely. Duties Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs Write detailed service orders, accurately capturing customer descriptions and technician diagnostics Explain repair recommendations clearly, emphasizing necessary services such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, alignments, suspension work, tire services, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repairs Upsell additional maintenance or repair services that enhance vehicle performance and safety while respecting customer budgets Coordinate with service technicians and parts department to ensure timely completion of repairs and proper parts availability Prepare auto estimates using our management software and communicate costs transparently to customers Handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently while maintaining accurate records Maintain thorough documentation of all customer interactions, repair orders, and service histories Experience Proven experience as an Automotive Service Writer or similar role within an automotive service environment Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, transmissions, oil changes, auto body repair, suspension systems, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, brake systems, air brakes, alignment procedures, and other automotive repairs Experience in auto estimating software and automotive service management tools Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally Background in mechanic work or service technician experience is highly desirable to better understand technical diagnostics and repair processes Demonstrated ability in upselling services while maintaining integrity and customer trust Familiarity with cash handling procedures and automobile sales processes is a plus Join us if you're passionate about cars and dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences!
