We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team and ensure our fleet of heavy machinery operates at peak performance. Job Summary The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, skid steers, trucks, and other construction machinery. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues. The position involves travel between our locations in Butte, Bozeman, and Helena, as well as occasional travel to job sites. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, skid steers, and trucks. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety. Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to identify and resolve issues. Conduct inspections to assess equipment condition and recommend repairs or replacements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work. Collaborate with operators and supervisors to address equipment performance concerns. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Travel to job sites and company locations (Butte, Bozeman, Helena) as needed to perform repairs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in heavy equipment repair preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment (e.g., dozers, excavators, skid steers, trucks). Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between Butte, Bozeman, Helena, and job sites. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in various weather conditions. Preferred Skills Experience with civil construction equipment brands (e.g., Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu). Welding and fabrication skills for equipment repairs. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Benefits Competitive salary based on experience.
