Automotive Diagnoistic Technician | 3 Day Weekends Centsible Auto Sales / Repair Kalispell, MT Job Details Full-time $25 - $32 an hour 2 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Employee discount Life insurance Qualifications ASE Certification Driver's License Driving Electrical maintenance Sensors Full Job Description Automotive Mechanic / Diagnostic Technician4-Day Work Week | Guaranteed 40 Hours | Bonuses | Paid Certification Testing Centsible Auto Repair - Kalispell, MT Do you like fixing cars, solving weird problems, and occasionally wondering what kind of life choices led someone to ignore a warning light for 14 months? Perfect. We should talk. Centsible Auto Repair is looking for an Automotive Mechanic / Diagnostic Technician to join our busy, family-owned shop in Kalispell. We are a full-service repair shop connected to Centsible Auto Sales, so our team works on both customer vehicles and inventory vehicles for our car lot. That means every day is a little different. Sometimes you are helping a customer get safely back on the road. Sometimes you are making sure a vehicle is reliable, inspected, and ready for sale. Sometimes you are diagnosing something that makes absolutely no sense until it suddenly does. We are looking for someone who can think, test, diagnose, repair, and work as part of a team. We are not looking for someone who just throws parts at a vehicle and hopes the check engine light gets bored and leaves. Why This Job Is Different We are not a giant corporate chain. We are not a dealership where you are just a number. We are a local, family-owned shop with a working team that actually pulls in the same direction.
Our goal is simple:
Resolve customer concerns, fix vehicles correctly, keep people safe, and put quality, safe, reliable inventory for sale at our attached car lot. Everyone in the shop plays a part in that. Technicians, service writers, parts, recon, sales — we all work toward the same end result. When the team wins, everyone wins. What We Offer 4-day work week Guaranteed 40 hours Straight-time hourly pay Performance bonus opportunities Paid time off Health benefits available Life insurance available Paid certification testing Steady work in a busy, established shop Family-owned environment No flat-rate starvation games Modern diagnostic tools and shop equipment Supportive team culture A real opportunity to grow your skills A shop that believes in honest diagnostics, not pushy upsells The Job You will inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide range of vehicles. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys figuring things out and takes pride in doing repairs correctly. We work on customer vehicles and dealership inventory, so quality matters. A vehicle leaving our shop needs to be safe, reliable, and properly repaired whether it belongs to a customer or is headed to our sales lot. Responsibilities Diagnose check engine lights, warning lights, drivability issues, no-starts, noises, leaks, electrical concerns, and other mystery problems Perform inspections and document what you find clearly Use scan tools, live data, wiring diagrams, test equipment, and actual diagnostic thinking Complete repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, tune-ups, sensors, gaskets, HVAC, maintenance, drivetrain repairs, and general mechanical work Verify repairs with testing and road tests when appropriate Communicate clearly with the service team about what failed, how it was tested, and what needs to happen next Help prepare inventory vehicles so they are safe, reliable, and ready for sale Keep your work area clean enough that we can tell the difference between "busy technician" and "crime scene" Follow shop procedures for inspections, documentation, torque specs, fluids, parts handling, and quality control Treat customer vehicles and inventory vehicles with care What We Are Looking For Strong mechanical knowledge Good diagnostic instincts Experience with modern scan tools Basic electrical testing ability Ability to read live data and understand what it means Solid general repair experience Dependable attendance Good communication and documentation skills Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record Ability to work independently without disappearing into another dimension A team-first attitude Pride in doing the job correctly Preferred Qualifications ASE certifications are a plus, but not required Independent shop experience is a plus Strong drivability, electrical, or diagnostic background is a plus Alignment experience is a plus Diesel, European, or advanced diagnostic experience is a plus Willingness to keep learning and improving Paid Certification Testing We believe good technicians should keep growing. If you want to pursue ASE or other approved industry certifications, we offer paid certification testing for approved tests. We like people who want to get better. We like it even more when they prove it. Schedule This is a full-time position with a 4-day work week and guaranteed 40 hours . You get a real schedule, steady hours, and a better work-life balance while still being part of a productive, busy shop. Pay This position is paid straight-time hourly , with performance bonus opportunities available. Pay is based on experience, diagnostic ability, certifications, and overall skill level. About Centsible Auto Repair Centsible Auto Repair has been serving Kalispell and the Flathead Valley since 2014. We are a full-service automotive repair, maintenance, tire, and diagnostic shop focused on honest service, clear communication, and quality workmanship. We are connected to Centsible Auto Sales, which means our repair team also helps make sure our dealership inventory is safe, reliable, and ready for customers. Our work matters, whether we are fixing a customer's daily driver or preparing a vehicle for sale. We are a local, family-owned business with a steady customer base, a busy shop, and a team that cares about doing things right. How to Apply Please apply through Indeed with your resume or work history. A perfect resume is not required. We mostly want to know what you can do, what you are good at, what you want to get better at, and whether you are the kind of person who shows up, works hard, and cares about the quality of your work. Bonus points if you know the difference between a diagnostic process and a parts cannon.
