Non-Exempt Job Summary:
The Lead Fleet Services Technician professionally inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with manufacturers, and Goodyear standards. The Lead Fleet Services Technician is responsible for completing PM services, fixing major repairs, including but not limited to engine repair and performance, suspension and steering, brakes including anti-lock and air brake systems, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning, camera systems and diagnostic computers, and bolt on body parts including steps, mirrors, doors, and fenders. This includes Department of Transportation (DOT) vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and maintain strong diagnostic skills.
- Remove wheels, inspect brake systems, repair, and replace components.
Vehicles include but not limited to Hino 258A, Isuzu box trucks, F59 and Freightliner
MT45/MT55 DOT
vehicles. Potential for additional vehicles to be added to scope of work including electric vehicles.
- Remove, repair, and replace parts, which include shocks, struts, and steering and suspension components.
- Perform fuel injection/induction services and perform under the hood fluid changes and power flushes (transmission fluid, antifreeze, power steering fluids, and differential services).
- Perform wheel alignments. (where applicable)
- Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle AC units.
- Test drive fleet vehicles to diagnose problems and recommend services according to Motorist Assurance Program (MAP) guidelines.
- Follow established processes in performing Goodyear's standardized oil change and vehicle inspection processes, as well as follow safety guidelines such as vehicle maintenance processes, good to go (And Go), bay navigation, and dress code standards.
- Inspect and replace various engine parts including but not limited to water/fuel pumps, starters, pulleys, ignition components, replace hoses, filters, wiring, batteries, etc.
- Inspect and replace exhaust systems.
- Knowledge of how to diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on diesel vehicles.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintaining work area after spills and at end of work shift.
- Assist in training and mentoring of new shop associates.
- Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals, which may include other associates and customers.
- Ability to provide basic maintenance functions such as tire mounting, dismount, wheel balance, perform flat repairs, and check fluid levels for lube/oil filters.
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to stay informed of rapidly changing automotive technology.
- Maintain standards in service, safety, and housekeeping. Use protective equipment including safety glasses and safety vests. when operating machinery and manual working tools. Complete all safety training.
- Maintain compliance with all Goodyear Retail policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and workforce labor requirements.
- Safely transport client vehicles to and from facility as needed.
- Lead and direct other facility technicians as necessary in the absence of facility management.
- Complete additional duties as necessary as assigned by the Fleet Service Center Manager.
Position Skills and Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to drive company and customer vehicles.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover business operational needs. Depending on location, our stores may be open 7 days a week, which may include weekends and holidays.
- Ability to use computers and various applications and programs to support sales and operations. This includes but not limited to Microsoft Office products, AndGo, Auto Integrate, and VOL.

- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, associates, and management.

Experience/Certification Requirements:
- 2 or more years of experience in mechanical/auto repair related work.
Recommended:
Obtaining Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) A4 Certification in Steering and Suspension and A5 Certification in Brakes.
Recommended:
State inspection licenses and/or MAC certified.
Recommended:
DOT Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
MACS 609
Certification - handling refrigerant.
