Job Description

Company overview At Providence Transportation, we provide medical transportation to the community. We offer ambulatory, wheelchair, and ambulance transportation. Our vehicle fleet is an essential part of our daily operations with more than 50 vehicles in our fleet. Our fleet consists of Passenger vans, Wheelchair Accessible Vans, Mini-Buses, and Ambulances, with both gasoline and diesel engines. Our garage is conveniently located just south of Winston Salem, near the town of Midway. Position Overview As a Fleet Technician at Providence Transportation, you will use your knowledge and skills to diagnose, maintain & repair our fleet of vehicles as well as schedule and conduct preventative maintenance to keep our fleet in top condition. Qualified applicants will have at least 2 years of recent experience as an automotive technician. Must have good driving record, no significant criminal history, and be willing to participate in our Zero Tolerance Drug and Alcohol program. Hours:
Approximately 11AM-7PM, M-F Responsibilities Service, diagnose, repair and maintain various types of vehicles, both gas and diesel engines. Troubleshoot common issues with wheelchair lifts. Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule to avoid common maintenance issues. Repair and maintain specialty equipment installed on vehicles. Create a culture of teamwork and foster good communication with Drivers, EMT's and Dispatch team. Respond to break downs and repair vehicles in the field when necessary. Maintain a clean and organized shop environment. Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum 2 years automotive mechanic experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to operate independently and collaboratively within a team Attention to detail. Time management and organizational skills. Must have own hand tools. Ability to change out engine and transmission and perform other major mechanical functions. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair common vehicle issues. Physical Demands & Working Conditions Regularly required to: Sit, stand and walk Use hands and arms to handle, feel or reach Speak and hear Use close vision abilities Operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license Work in a non-temperature regulated environement Occasionally required to: Lift or move up to 100 lbs Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Required Skills and Experience Minimum age to operate company vehicle is 21 (required). Good driving record (DMV check required) No significant criminal history (Background check required) Drug Free (Pre-employment and random drug testing) Recent mechanical experience of at least 2 years, troubleshooting, diagnosing light & medium duty trucks. ASE certifications preferred. AC certification preferred Welding and fabrication proficiency preferred Compensation is paid as an hourly wage and is based on relative experience.
