Fleet Mechanic - Construction Equipment

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fleet Mechanic specializing in construction equipment to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment used on construction sites. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably, minimizing downtime and supporting project timelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy-duty vehicles, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills to keep our fleet in top condition. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on construction equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and trailers to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose complex mechanical issues using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and automotive diagnostics tools; execute repairs efficiently. Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension components, and electrical systems across various heavy machinery. Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet operational requirements. Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities; ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Assist with equipment assembly, troubleshooting hydraulic systems, aligning components, and performing tire service or heavy lifting tasks when necessary. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with team members and project managers regarding equipment status and repair timelines. Skills Proven experience with heavy construction machinery or industrial equipment is highly preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge of schematics reading, and automotive diagnostics. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential. Expertise in repairing diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC systems in heavy equipment. Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklift trucks safely and efficiently. Knowledge of electrical systems within industrial equipment; experience with electrical diagnostics is a plus. Pay:

$35.76 - $51.29 per hour
