JOB DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Works under the close supervision of the Vehicle Maintenance Superintendent or designee. Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public. Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Performs semi-skilled, skilled work in maintaining the vehicles in the City's fleet and mechanical equipment of the city. Carries out preventive maintenance tasks for all vehicles and mechanical equipment. Operates a variety of diagnostic scan tools and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools. Tests, services, and repairs vehicles and mechanical equipment. Inspects, adjusts, and replaces necessary units and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work. Repairs brake, engine, electrical, fuel, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle assemblies and related systems on all types of equipment. May at times be required to work on hydraulics. Cuts metal and performs related work. Changes and repairs tires. Evaluates status of mechanical equipment and vehicles, and performs needed repairs. Conducts various analyses and inspections of vehicles and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair, or replacement. Requisitions equipment, parts, and supplies used for vehicle and mechanical system maintenance. Provides emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate. Maintains records daily; may include the preparation of reports and other specialized maintenance records (e.g. mechanical equipment). Required to be on call for weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing. Extensive background checks required. A pre-employment physical and or drug/alcohol test is required for this position. This position requires a baseline audiometric examination. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent plus some specialized training in mechanics, maintenance management, or a closely related field. Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record for the past three years. Valid Commercial Driver's License required, or ability to obtain such within nine (9) months of employment. A.S.E. certifications required within nine (9) months of hire date and maintain them. Three (3) years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Repairs and maintenance will be required on cars, trucks, trailers, snowplows, and any and all other equipment as deemed necessary. Thorough knowledge of equipment and on highway truck mechanics, including automotive gas and diesel engines. Considerable knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, gas engine and electrical. Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to municipal maintenance and repair activities. Work on snowplows and related equipment. Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and tools used in modern automotive maintenance. Some computer experience is preferred. Must have a working telephone and be willing and able to be on 24-hour call; must be able to be at the Municipal Operations Center within thirty minutes after receiving a call or page. Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion in a timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Complete all paperwork daily Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the public. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Keep your work area clean and organized at all times.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Skill in operation of motorized vehicles for mechanical testing purposes, power and hand tools and equipment for vehicle and mechanical system work; mechanic's tools including jacks, hydraulic lifts, air tools, and other tools required for minor repairs and routine maintenance of motorized vehicles; electronic vehicle diagnostic equipment; personal computer; calculator; phone; mobile or portable radio, and various hand tools.
NOTE:
Employee is required to supply his own hand tools and storage cabinet/tool chest. Employee may be given an annual tool allowance, dependent upon approval of the budget by City Council.

DUTIES ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a creative leadership position for a librarian who is passionate about teens and tweens and excited to design services that are relevant, welcoming, and future-focused. You will have the autonomy to imagine new programs, shape collections, activate spaces, and build meaningful relationships with young people while mentoring staff and collaborating across the organization. This position plays a central role in imagining and delivering innovative services for tweens and teens. Under the strategic leadership of the Youth Services Coordinator, this position leads the day-to-day vision and direction of teen services with significant independence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement, and evaluate innovative, interest-driven programs for teens ages 13-18 and tweens ages 8-12, using creative approaches and emerging trends to continually reimagine what youth library services can be. Champion a responsive, high-impact selection of young adult materials that reflects the identities, interests, and curiosities of teens. Exercise professional judgment in selecting, promoting, and evolving the collection using professional reviews, the library's material selection policy, community insight, and usage data. Provide inspiring day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Youth Services Clerks, Technicians, volunteers, and assigned staff, supporting their growth and success. Help shape the future of the team by participating in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, skill-building, and continuous coaching. Lead the vision for the Teen Zone as a vibrant, flexible, and highly used destination. Serve as a dynamic ambassador for the library and for young people, building meaningful connections and elevating the visibility of teen and tween services. Creatively promote programs, collections, and services through social media, newsletters, digital storytelling, and in-person outreach. Lead engaging tours, programs, and presentations that introduce new audiences to the library in memorable ways. Manage designated budget areas, making decisions about resource allocation with accountability, responsibility, and innovative thinking to expand and enhance services. Play an active role in department-wide operations, supporting shared service points, team initiatives, and coordinated outreach programs. Keep informed of current trends, technology, and developments affecting librarians through professional reading, education opportunities, and participation in professional organizations. Works under the supervision of the Library Computer Support Supervisor (Public Technology Coordinator). Must be available during peak use hours, which include weekdays, evenings and weekends. Coordinates, organizes, and monitors use of public computers.
