Job Description

POSITION TITLE
Automotive Mechanic
REPORTING TO
Transportation Director HOURS:
Part-time, 4.0 hours per day (6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Mon-Fri)
CURRENT LOCATION
Transportation Department, 2 Winston Place, Albany, NY 12205
START DATE:
ASAP SALARY & BENEFITS
: $25.40 per hour per CSEA Contract
RESPONSIBILITIES
This is skilled work involving responsibility for the complete overhaul and repair of a variety of automotive equipment and related types of machinery.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of experience as a skilled automotive repairperson. Thorough knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and of the terminology and tools of difficult repairs to heavy automotive and other mechanical equipment which may include diesel equipment; Working knowledge of welding techniques; Skill in motor function and dexterity; Ability to work from plans and specifications and to follow rough draft sketches and oral instructions; Hand-eye coordination; Manual dexterity.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid New York State Driver s License at the time of appointment and throughout employment.
