Job Description

General:
The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic is part of the Garage Team, reporting to the Garage Supervisor. The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability and performance of Belleayre's fleet by monitoring, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of Diesel and gasoline powered equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair diesel- and gasoline-powered equipment. Conduct regular visual inspections and perform repairs as needed. Perform routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes and servicing in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. Complete regular equipment checks, including fluid levels, brake systems, hoses, and other mechanical components; repair or replace as necessary. Diagnose reported mechanical issues, determine root causes, and plan and execute appropriate repairs. Perform minor adjustments and replace worn or damaged parts. Maintain accurate written logs and records of all inspections, maintenance, and repair work performed. Ensure all equipment is safe, operable, and meets required inspection and safety standards. Maintain accountability and organization of tools, equipment, and shop work areas. Provide support to other operational departments as requested. Follow and contribute to all safety procedures and protocols; identify and report hazards promptly. Perform miscellaneous support tasks assigned by the Garage Supervisor in support of the overall functions and operational needs of the Garage Department Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to safely operate large machinery. Prior mechanical experience strongly preferred. Ability to work in a loud, active work environment. Position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, early morning shifts, late shifts, and occasional call-ins at any hour as operational needs require. Must possess a current, valid U.S. driver's license. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Self-motivated and able to work independently on assigned tasks.
Wage/Salary:
This position is classified as a Grade 16 to 17 on the CSEA/Olympic Authority's Hourly Compensation Schedule, which carries an entry rate of $25.47 per hour up to $27.43 per hour pending experience. The Olympic Authority offers an excellent benefits package that includes paid leave (sick, vacation, and personal time), paid holidays, health, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the NYS and Local Retirement Systems, and participation in NYS Deferred Compensation, as defined under the CSEA contract.
