Job Description

Lead Technician / Working Shop Foreman Finger Lakes Automotive, Marine, and Power Equipment - Skaneateles, NY Full-Time Position Finger Lakes Automotive, Marine, and Power Equipment is looking for an experienced technician to join our growing team as a Lead Technician / Working Shop Foreman . We are looking for more than just another technician. This position is for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, helping organize workflow, assisting other technicians, and taking pride in keeping a shop running efficiently. This is a hands-on position. The ideal candidate will spend the majority of their time performing repairs and diagnostics while also helping guide daily shop operations. Our business works on a wide variety of equipment including: Automotive repair Trucks and light diesel Boats and marine engines Personal watercraft Lawn & garden equipment Commercial mowing equipment Tractors and attachments Every day is different, and we need someone who enjoys solving problems.
Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostics and repairs efficiently Handle advanced diagnostic issues Assist technicians when they need guidance Help prioritize jobs and maintain workflow Work with the service advisor to keep jobs moving Verify repairs and maintain quality control Research repair information, wiring diagrams, and service procedures Assist with parts identification and ordering when needed Communicate findings clearly to service staff Maintain an organized and productive shop environment Help develop younger technicians
The Ideal Candidate:
Experienced technician with strong diagnostic ability Able to troubleshoot instead of simply replace parts Comfortable using scan tools and computers Understands electrical diagnostics Can read wiring diagrams and service information Organized and able to manage multiple priorities Works well with both technicians and front office staff Takes ownership and pride in their work
Experience Preferred:
Automotive diagnostics and repair Marine engine repair Small engine repair Powersports experience Electrical troubleshooting Diesel experience Hydraulic systems Parts lookup and service information systems Experience in every category is NOT required. Strong diagnostic ability and willingness to learn are most important.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly pay based on experience. Higher pay available for the right individual with: Strong diagnostic skills Leadership ability Multiple industry experience
Schedule:
