McCracken Automotive is looking for an experienced Lead Technician / Shop Foreman to help lead our shop while remaining involved in the technical side of the business. This is not a position where you'll spend all day turning wrenches—or sitting behind a desk writing repair orders. We're looking for someone who can assist diagnosing difficult problems, mentor technicians, road test vehicles, communicate with customers, and help keep the entire shop running efficiently. We operate three independent repair facilities with centralized phone support, modern shop management systems, Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI), and a team-oriented culture focused on quality repairs and exceptional customer service. Your Role As our Lead Technician / Shop Foreman, you'll become the technical leader of the shop. Technical Leadership Road test vehicles to verify customer concerns and confirm repairs Assist technicians with advanced diagnostics and difficult repairs Review repair recommendations before they are presented to customers Perform quality control inspections and final road tests Help establish diagnostic procedures and best practices Support complex engine, drivability, electrical and diagnostic repairs Technical Service Management Road test vehicles to verify customer concerns and accurately diagnose vehicle symptoms. Perform initial vehicle evaluations and assist technicians with advanced diagnostics and repair strategies. Prepare detailed repair orders and estimates for complex diagnostic, drivability, electrical, engine, transmission, and fleet repair work. Clearly document customer concerns, technician findings, recommended repairs, and supporting diagnostic information. Present complex repair recommendations directly to customers, explaining technical issues in a clear, honest, and professional manner. Review repair plans with technicians to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and proper parts ordering before work begins. Perform quality control inspections and final road tests to verify repairs prior to vehicle delivery. Shop Operations Coordinate technician workflow and dispatch work efficiently Monitor daily production and labor efficiency Help technicians stay productive and meet shop goals Prioritize work based on customer commitments Work closely with ownership to improve shop performance and profitability Team Development Mentor and train technicians Assist with technician hiring and onboarding Participate in technician performance reviews Help develop production goals and career growth plans Foster a positive, accountable team culture Customer Communication Meet with customers on complex vehicle concerns Explain diagnostic findings and repair recommendations Build trust through honest, professional communication Assist service advisors with technically challenging customer conversations Qualifications 10+ years of automotive repair experience preferred Strong diagnostic and drivability skills ASE Master Technician certification preferred (or equivalent experience) Comfortable road testing and accurately identifying vehicle concerns Leadership or shop foreman experience preferred Excellent communication skills Experience with Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) systems Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license with clean driving record What We Offer Monday-Friday schedule (No Saturdays) Competitive salary plus performance bonuses Total compensation potential of $120,000
