Senior Lead Automotive Technician / Diagnostician Rigs and Rodz Tallmadge, OH Job Details Full-time From $38 an hour 7 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Paid sick time Qualifications Automotive repair Auto service management Driver's License Electrical experience Diagnostic testing Full Job Description About Rigs and Rodz Rigs and Rodz is a growing vehicle restoration and reconditioning shop in Tallmadge, Ohio (Akron area). We recondition vehicles for resale and restore classic cars. We're a small, close-knit, family-run team with a well-equipped, tech-forward shop, including an in-house paint booth, quality scan tools, ALLDATA, and Tekmetric, plus direct access to the owner and real room to grow. The Role We're looking for a senior, hands-on lead technician who is also a strong diagnostician. You'll be the technical backbone of our shop floor: diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of vehicles (most of our work goes beyond basic reconditioning), writing up jobs, keeping work moving, and mentoring our developing technicians. You run the floor day to day, with real authority to do it. The owner handles customer concerns, pricing, and final job approval, so you can focus on the work and the crew. We run a modern, systems-driven operation (Tekmetric for the shop, ALLDATA for repair info), so a tech who's comfortable with the software has real leverage here. What You'll Do
- Diagnose driveability, electrical, and mechanical issues across a wide variety of vehicles, including classics.
- Perform and oversee repairs and reconditioning.
- Write up jobs and build estimates in Tekmetric for the owner's approval.
- Run the floor: sequence the work, assign jobs, and quality-check finished work.
- Coordinate outside body and paint sublet work.
- Mentor and train our developing technicians. What We're Looking For
- Several years of professional automotive repair experience with proven diagnostic ability (driveability/electrical).
- Comfortable using computers and shop software as daily tools; we run Tekmetric and ALLDATA, and experience with these or similar systems is a strong plus.
- ASE certification (Master or key certifications) strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Your own hand tools (we provide specialty and diagnostic equipment).
- A calm, team-first attitude: someone who lifts the crew up and stays steady under pressure. This matters as much as technical skill here.
- Nice to have: classic-car / restoration experience, body and paint knowledge. Why You'll Want This Seat
- Straight hourly pay, not flat rate, with time-and-a-half over 40. Top-of-market for the right person, depending on experience; tell us your number.
- Daylight schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm. Home for dinner every day.
- Paid holidays (including your birthday), paid vacation, and paid sick time.
- A modern, well-equipped shop and a senior seat with real authority, direct owner access, and no corporate layers.
We move fast for the right person. Rigs and Rodz is an equal opportunity employer.
