Role:
The Vehicle Service Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles to ensure their optimal performance, safety, and reliability. This position involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance, and executing complex repairs using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment. The technician will work closely with service advisors and customers to communicate vehicle conditions and recommend necessary services. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to prevent future breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan. Ultimately, this role contributes to customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service and ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a formal automotive service technician training program or equivalent experience. Valid driver's license. Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and repair. Basic knowledge of automotive diagnostic tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification. Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle systems. Familiarity with manufacturer-specific diagnostic software. Strong understanding of emission control systems. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Perform thorough inspections and diagnostics on vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and safety issues. Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid replacements. Repair or replace defective parts including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems using appropriate tools and techniques. Maintain accurate service records and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to service advisors and customers. Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations while working in the service area.
Skills:
The Vehicle Service Technician utilizes mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills daily to troubleshoot and resolve vehicle issues efficiently. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software enables accurate identification of problems, reducing repair time and improving service quality. Strong manual dexterity and technical knowledge are essential for performing precise repairs and maintenance tasks. Communication skills are important for explaining technical information to customers and collaborating with team members. Additionally, adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations ensures a safe working environment and compliance with legal requirements.
