Salary:
$19.58-$29.29 per hour (DOQ) (Non-Exempt)
Job Type:
Full Time Shift :
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (Subject to recall during inclement weather)

Open Until Filled Job Description This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in basic heavy truck or equipment servicing and repair is preferred. ASE T8 is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and satisfactory driving record. Paid CDL and CNG training provided. Must obtain an Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License, Class B within (1) year of employment depending on class/testing availability. (City will pay for on-the-clock training and provide a vehicle). Must obtain a State of Oklahoma CNG Equipment (Vehicle) Technician Certification within two (2) years of employment. (City will pay for on-the-clock training and provide a vehicle). ASE incentive pay program.
Knowledge:
Parts location and structure of heavy-duty vehicles, large trailers, and heavy equipment. Preventive maintenance techniques such as replacing oil and filters and lubricating chassis. Safety practices related to the repair of equipment.
Skills:
Using work aids and hand/power tools. Changing filters and greasing zerks during the servicing of vehicles. Reassembling parts & equipment. Following oral and written instructions. Communicating both orally and in writing.
Essential Functions:
Reviews work orders and determine problems with vehicles or equipment to be serviced. Determines location and cause of vehicle or equipment malfunction by visual and manual inspection prior to beginning actual service. Retrieves the needed parts from the in-house parts store for servicing of the vehicle. Performs visual and manual preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and serviceable operation of the vehicle. Repairs flat tires, checks fluids in vehicles, and replenishes or replaces as needed. Cleans all vehicles and equipment. Performs related work as assigned. Performs facility maintenance, lawn care, and seasonal work as needed.
Mental and Physical Abilities:
Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift heavy (50-75 lb.) materials, supplies, and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extremes of temperature, and noxious fumes and odors.
Additional Information:
Toolbox and complete master tool set and uniforms provided along with an additional allowance for cold weather gear and steel toe shoes. Available for on-call rotation approximately three times annually. Selected applicants must pass a background investigation, physical examination, and drug screen. Public Works
