Job Description
Description We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Automotive/Vehicle Technician to support heavy-duty vehicles at a local test track. This role works closely with engineers to prepare vehicles, components, and systems for instrumentation, all in support of a vehicle testing and validation program. This position is hands-on, technical, and ideal for a technician with mechanical experience who also has exposure to software, wiring, and instrumentation tasks in modern vehicles. Key Responsibilities Prepare vehicles and components for strain gauge instrumentation. Install, route, and secure cables and wiring required for strain testing. Remove axles and perform other mechanical disassembly/reassembly as needed. Support engineers in equipment setup, instrumentation prep, and test readiness. Assist in replacing components and ensuring all parts are properly staged for instrumentation teams. Work collaboratively with engineering teams throughout real-to-virtual transition workflows. Follow high attention-to-detail processes to ensure accurate and reliable instrumentation support.
Required Skills:
Prior automotive or mechanical technician experience at a dealership, fleet shop, farm, or similar - ideally 3+ years of demonstrated high quality work. Strong preference for experience with heavy duty vehicles - trucks, RV's, diesel farm equipment, or similar. Strong mechanical aptitude including axle removal and component prep. Experience running wiring, cables, or similar technical routing tasks. High attention to detail and ability to work methodically. Ability to collaborate closely with engineers in a technical environment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
