Parking Lot Painting Company (PLP Co.) is a premier, high-growth specialty contractor recognized for elite-level installation and removal of complex pavement markings. Our reputation is built on velocity and uncompromising quality. To maintain this standard, we need a high-caliber Mobile Fleet & Heavy Equipment Technician to serve as our primary field diagnostic authority. This is an autonomous, high-impact field role for a disciplined mechanic who thrives away from a standard shop bay. You will be handed the keys to the highway, managing real-time diagnostics, heavy structural repairs, and emergency roadside recovery across a diverse asset footprint. If you are a self-driven troubleshooter who commands mechanical respect across both "yellow iron" and heavy transport trucks, PLP Co. provides the stable, year-round platform and uncapped overtime you need to elevate your career. What You Will Be Doing You will take complete ownership of field asset readiness, working independently across diverse environments to minimize operational downtime:
On-Site Technical Diagnostics:
Rapidly troubleshoot, isolate, and repair complex mechanical failures on-site. Your scope spans light-duty support vehicles, class 8 heavy-duty transport trucks, and heavy specialty construction machinery.
Systems & Diagrams Mastery:
Execute preventative maintenance and intricate system overhauls by accurately interpreting OEM blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic circuits, and pneumatic diagrams.
Emergency Roadside Recovery:
Provide rapid-response tactical assistance for field breakdowns, executing structural repairs under tight time constraints or coordinating complex towing logistics when necessary.
Component Fabrication & Welding:
Dismantle devices using advanced hand and power tools to replace defective components. Occasionally perform custom structural cutting, wire-feed/arc welding, and torch-cutting to adapt parts in the field.
Quality Assurance Testing:
Rigorously inspect and test all field-repaired equipment to guarantee 100% operational safety and peak performance before it returns to active service.
Regulatory Compliance:
Conduct official DOT inspections and maintain strict alignment with federal safety guidelines to protect our drivers and the traveling public. What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
Technical Expertise:
Proven professional experience as a fleet, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanic, ideally with a background in mobile or field-service environments.
Engine & Hydraulic Fluency:
Documented hands-on experience working directly with diesel engines, gasoline engines, and high-pressure hydraulic systems.
Physical Stamina & Dexterity:
Exceptional eye-hand-foot coordination, fine manual dexterity, and the physical capability to lift or transport 50+ pounds continuously in varying outdoor weather conditions.
Licensure & Record:
A valid Driver's License paired with an excellent driving record (no major violations within the last 5 years) to meet company insurance policy criteria.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred Technical Competencies (Not Required): Active Commercial Driver's License (CDL) — PLP Co. will provide on-the-job CDL training for the right candidate. Structural welding and metal fabrication experience.
Key Core Competencies Punctuality & Discipline:
Absolute commitment to arriving at designated start times; self-motivated to work diligently under strict field time restraints.
Public Professionalism:
Polite, respectful demeanor when interacting with clients, general contractors, and the traveling public.
Emergency Demeanor:
Ability to think quickly, prioritize tasks logically, and act appropriately in high-stress roadside or field emergency situations. Workforce & Industry Data Strategic recruitment relies on understanding the competitive landscape of the mechanical trades.
