Job Description

Structural Metal Fabricators, Inc., a leader in the manufacturing industry of customized utility vehicles for industrial and municipal clients, is growing! Our state-of-the-art facility, with over 61,000 sq. feet of sales, engineering and manufacturing capability, provides the foundation for successful solutions. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with Equipment experience. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-starter with a proven ability to plan, design and manufacture while leading a team.
JOB PURPOSE
The position of Mechanical Engineer is to design, develop, test and supervise the manufacturing and installation of equipment, components, or systems for mobile truck equipment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
  • This position needs to collaborate closely with the shop team working hand in hand to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise. This position will also include some hands on involvement day to day including the troubleshooting process, running & testing equipment, etc.
  • Evaluates and improves mechanical manufacturing methods, products, components, and applications by designing and applying knowledge of fabrication processes and materials.
  • Assures product quality by designing and carrying out testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.
  • Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Direct and coordinate installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications of systems to ensure the installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by competent authority.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Must be punctual and have good work ethic
  • Must supply required tools and ANSI approved toe protection footwear
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language
