Medical insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance RX plan 401K w/ Company Match Paid Time Off 9 paid holidays Qualifications Previous experience as a mechanic required; commercial truck experience strongly preferred CDL preferred (not required) State Inspection knowledge preferred Must have your own tools Knowledge of shop equipment and repair manuals Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Comfortable working independently and collaborating with your Mechanic's Helper and field crews Genuine interest in learning specialized, industry-specific equipment Basic computer skills required Essential Functions & Responsibilities Inspect vehicles and equipment, run diagnostic tests, and identify worn or damaged parts Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, fluid checks, winterization, and corrosion control Service brakes on both light and heavy vehicles; adjust controls, alignments, and systems Repair some assemblies: electrical, fuel, emission, hydraulic, and steering systems. Major repairs are outsourced. Schedule and coordinate major repairs and parts ordering with vendors Ensure all vehicles meet regulatory compliance and safety inspection standards (State inspection license preferred) Maintain detailed service and repair records to maximize fleet uptime Troubleshoot, service, and perform preventative maintenance on specialized pavement marking equipment including paint pump systems, thermoplastic heating units, and walk-behind application machines Verify vehicle performance through test drives and system checks Perform other duties as assigned Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to understand and follow written repair manuals and instructions Leadership and sound decision-making in the field Deadline-driven and detail-oriented
Supervisory Responsibility:
Leadership, decision making and at least 1 direct report Physical Demands This role requires standing, walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and bending. Occasional exertion of up to 60 lbs; lifting up to 50 lbs. Work is performed in varied environmental conditions—protected from weather, but subject to temperature changes.
