MECHANIC

Supports reliable and efficient generating station operations by maintaining mechanical equipment, piping systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic power transmission systems in a state of operational readiness. Understands the hazards associated with job task assigned and follow safety rules, policies and procedures.

Essential Job Tasks:

Inspects, troubleshoots, assembles, installs and repairs steam, gas turbine and hydro generating equipment. Performs PM's on rotating and reciprocating equipment. Fits and welds high pressure steam piping and boiler parts. Maintains transmission piping and associated equipment for air, hydraulic, lubrication oil and water. Aligns and balances rotating equipment. Completes all safety and mandated training courses, both on-line and Instructor led. Fabricates and machines parts to close tolerances. Completes work order documentation including work performed, labor required and materials used. Operates mobile/overhead cranes and forklifts. Rigs and lifts station equipment. Maintains a 24-hour/day on-call status for emergency work at night, on weekends, and holidays as needed. Performs duties as lead man on projects and during major outages. Will consider

Mechanic A, B or C Position Requirements:

Mechanic A High school diploma/GED with courses in machine shop, welding, metal fabrication, mechanical repair, carpentry and + 5 years related experience required. Must have + 2 years experience as Mechanic B. Must be able to perform welding, fabricating machinery operation, precision measuring techniques, structural and piping system fabrication and machine alignment and balancing. Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above and below grade, accommodate overtime and on-call status.

Compensation Information:

$37.00 - $46.15 (min. - mid.) Mechanic B High school diploma/GED with courses in machine shop, welding, metal fabrication, mechanical repair, carpentry and + 2 years related experience. Must have +2 years as Mechanic C. Must be able to perform welding, fabricating machinery operation, precision measuring techniques, structural and piping system fabrication and machine alignment and balancing. Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above and below grade, accommodate overtime and on-call status.

Compensation Information:

$27.00 - $33.75 (min. - mid.) Mechanic C High school diploma/GED with courses in machine shop, welding, metal fabrication, mechanical repair, carpentry. Must have good mechanical aptitude. Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above and below grade, accommodate overtime and on-call status.
