Job Description

Overview:
Wheel Vehicle Mechanic(USARCENT-2026-25508-W): Bowhead Seeks Wheel Vehicle Mechanic at Shaw AFB to support the
USARCENT
contract. The Wheel Vehicle Mechanic will serve as the Assistant Project Manager, fulfilling Project Manager duties when the PM is absent.
Responsibilities:
The Wheel Vehicle Mechanic/APM repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors. Work involves diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts (e.g., piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts); grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems, in support of the
USARCENT
Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion (HHB) at Shaw AFB. The Wheel Vehicle Mechanic/APM must process the following requirements: Available onsite between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays or when the government facility is closed for administrative reasons. Ability to use US Army 10/20 level Technical Manuals ™ to maintain, repair, and service vehicles and equipment. Able to receive/have a favorable National Agency Check (NACI) and obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC). Possesses a valid driver's license, certificates, and permits applicable for the type and class of vehicle being operated. Have and maintain certifications, licenses, training, and qualifications required by Department of Defense, Army, IMCOM, official guidance and directives (except for those qualifications that can only be satisfied by government training), to satisfy the requirements specified in this contract. Capable of performing basic mathematics. Physically capable of lifting no less than 25 pounds and performing work in conditions of extreme temperatures, high humidity, and blowing sand and dust.

Capable of performing basic mathematics. Physically capable of lifting no less than 25 pounds and performing work in conditions of extreme temperatures, high humidity, and blowing sand and dust. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift no less than 25 pounds. Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time. Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
