Job Description

The Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer vehicles in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role performs routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and complex mechanical repairs while ensuring high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and committed to continuous learning in automotive technology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform vehicle inspections and accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and performance issues. Conduct routine maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, fluid checks, and filter replacements. Repair and replace vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, suspension systems, and electrical systems. Utilize diagnostic equipment and computerized testing tools to identify vehicle concerns. Interpret repair orders and communicate findings to service advisors and management. Complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation. Test-drive vehicles before and after repairs to verify proper operation. Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition. Follow all OSHA, environmental, and company safety policies and procedures. Stay current on emerging automotive technologies, repair methods, and manufacturer updates. Assist team members and perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Strong understanding of automotive systems, including engine, transmission, suspension, steering, electrical, and HVAC systems. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues. Proficiency in using diagnostic software, scan tools, and repair equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet productivity goals. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Technical school or automotive technology certification preferred. ASE Certifications preferred; willingness to obtain certifications encouraged. Minimum of 1-3 years of automotive repair experience preferred. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required. Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and repair software. Ability to operate shop equipment safely, including lifts, tire machines, alignment equipment, and power tools. #hc250048
