The R D Department plays an important role in the continued growth and success of Aces EFI. This position is hands-on and requires strong automotive diagnostic ability, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to follow testing and documentation procedures accurately. As an R D Technician, you will assist with building, diagnosing, testing, documenting, and validating new products while working closely with Engineering, Marketing, Technical Support, Production, and Quality to help ensure products meet performance, reliability, and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities Build, install, troubleshoot, and test automotive systems and prototype components. Perform diagnostics on aftermarket EFI systems, ignition systems, fuel systems, sensors, wiring, and engine management systems. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related vehicle issues. Verify product functionality before production release. Assist with product testing, validation, and continuous improvement processes. Recommend product improvements based on testing results and observations. Maintain accurate testing notes, documentation, and project records. Support Marketing by preparing demonstration vehicles and assisting with product demonstrations, videos, or related projects as needed. Maintain R D vehicles, shop equipment, tools, and test equipment. Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area. Assist with other R D, quality, technical support, or product-related projects as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of automotive diagnostic and repair experience. Hands-on experience with aftermarket Electronic Fuel Injection systems is required, such as ACES EFI, Holley EFI, MegaSquirt, FuelTech, Haltech, FiTech, FAST, or similar engine management systems.
Strong understanding of:
Electronic Fuel Injection systems Engine management and ECU operation Fuel delivery systems Ignition systems Engine sensors and data acquisition Automotive electrical systems and wiring diagnostics Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and pinout charts. Experience using scan tools, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other automotive diagnostic equipment. Experience with ECU setup, calibration, data logging, and basic engine tuning. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accurate documentation. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined procedures. Ability to work independently while contributing positively in a team environment. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Performance engine building experience. Fabrication, welding, or prototype vehicle assembly experience. Experience working in a product testing, performance automotive, or R D environment. Familiarity with aftermarket automotive electronics, wiring, and engine management systems. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and work in a shop environment for extended periods. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, automotive lifts, and shop equipment. Ability to work around running engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, and automotive test equipment. Work Environment This position is hands-on and in a Research & Development environment where prototype vehicles, engines, and automotive systems are assembled, diagnosed, repaired, tested, and validated. Employees should expect to work daily with vehicles, engines, EFI systems, wiring, diagnostic equipment, laptops, testing tools, and shop equipment. Occasional overtime may be required when necessary to support testing schedules, project timelines, or product development deadlines.
