TCAT Crump Job Summary The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is accepting applications for the full-time position of Automotive Service Technology Associate Instructor located at the Crump Campus. Job Duties Instruct students through lectures, demonstrations, simulation, and/or audio-visual aids to prepare them in the fundamentals of automotive mechanic's field. Administer assessments to evaluate student progress. Maintain confidential student academic records and submit reports related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.). Develop, plan and prepare a complete progressive course of study, syllabi, lesson plans, assignment and instructional aids, and keep these revised and up to date to meet the requirements of industry. Conduct and/or attend meetings, day and/or evening, with program stakeholders. Participate in recruitment of students; Assist with student placement and student follow-up. Attend workshops and/or other training programs to remain current in the field. Overnight travel may be required. Motivation, conduct, safety, discipline, and appearance of student during the time he/she is on the institution campus are also duties of the instructor. Ensure compliance with all TBR, institutional, state, and federal requirements. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications- Minimum of Technical Diploma in the instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in a related field; A comparable combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work experience in the automotive mechanics field within the last five (5) years.
- Must possess all required ASE certifications and/or accreditations for the field or the ability to become certified within twelve (12) calendar months.
- Strong hands-on technical background in all areas of the automotive mechanic field Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy
- Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications Physical Demands / Working Conditions Normal standing, sitting, and walking Lifting of boxes/items weighing approximately 40 lbs.
