Fleet Mechanic - Commercial Delivery FleetOverview We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and experienced Fleet Mechanic to support our commercial delivery fleet for our Murfreesboro, Tennessee operation. This position is critical to keeping our vehicles safe, reliable, compliant, and ready for daily route operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive and commercial vehicle diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repair. This role will primarily focus on medium-duty commercial delivery vehicles, including step vans, box trucks, and other fleet vehicles used in high-volume package delivery operations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of vehicle uptime, and can work with urgency, accuracy, and professionalism in a fast-paced fleet environment. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, including oil changes, brake service, tire inspections, fluid checks, battery replacement, lighting repairs, suspension work, and general vehicle inspections. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and repair procedures. Maintain and repair medium-duty commercial delivery vehicles, including step vans, box trucks, and related fleet equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce vehicle downtime and help ensure the fleet is prepared for daily operations. Perform safety inspections and identify issues that may impact vehicle reliability, driver safety, or operational compliance. Repair or replace brakes, shocks, struts, suspension components, belts, hoses, batteries, lighting, mirrors, tires, and other vehicle systems as needed. Respond to urgent repair needs and assist with road calls when necessary to support drivers and minimize route disruption. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed. Communicate clearly with management regarding vehicle status, repair timelines, parts needs, and any safety concerns. Help maintain an organized, safe, and professional work environment. Work closely with operations leadership to ensure vehicles are ready, reliable, and available for daily dispatch. Qualifications Proven experience as a fleet mechanic, automotive technician, diesel mechanic, or similar role. Experience working on commercial vehicles, step vans, box trucks, delivery vehicles, or medium-duty fleet vehicles preferred. Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repair processes. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues efficiently and accurately. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and standard repair procedures. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, repair information, schematics, and service documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and manage multiple vehicles or repair needs. Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset. Valid driver's license required. ASE certifications, diesel experience, DOT inspection experience, or fleet maintenance experience are preferred but not required.
