We focus on education, restoration, and collaboration to address water pollution and promote sustainable practices.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Fleet Mechanic, reporting to the Director of Field Operations (and occasionally Field Operations Supervisors), is responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on the Cumberland River Compact's fleet of trucks, trailers, and machinery. When mechanic work is not required, the position involves joining Field Division Crews for tasks like tree maintenance, plantings, and other Field Division projects. Pay is $20-$25/hr, based on qualifications. Mechanic and Crewmember duties are 30% and 70%, respectively, although this will vary weekly by need.RESPONSIBILITIES
Fleet Mechanic Work closely with the Director of Field Operations to ensure preventative maintenance is performed and scheduled for five to six heavy duty trucks, six to seven utility trailers, and other mechanical equipment such as pumps and a skidsteer Perform in-field diagnostics and repairs on machine issues Make recommendations to the Director of Field Operations on repair options, costs, and fleet purchases Make mechanical repairs as able Oversee stock and inventory of fleet maintenance items Help maintain TDOT, OSHA, and environmental compliance in work area & duties Crewmember Serves as a key component to the Tree Care Program's day-to-day watering through the months of May to September Assists with tree care activities in winter and spring, including mulching and pruning Aids in Fall and Winter tree deliveries Employee may assist with other field programs, as needed by the organization, such as: Assist in large-scale clean-ups to meet grant deliverables Ability to assist in Green Infrastructure stormwater buildouts and retrofits, such as Depaves Serves as field laboring help in stream restoration projects Work with staff on 319, ILF, WQIP, City of Franklin Deliverables and Root Nashville deliverablesQUALIFICATIONS
Fleet Mechanic ASE Certifications preferred but not required 1-2+ years of experience in mechanical repairs Competency in fluid changes, brakes, and basic maintenance Welding experience a plus Horticultural experience a plus Experience with Chevy, RAM, small pumps and motors, skidsteers, farm equipment, etc. a plus Organized, Thoughtful, and Hardworking attitude General A successful applicant will enjoy working outside through the seasons Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day 18 years of age Valid Drivers License Interest in environmental causes a plus Must be a team playerPAY & BENEFITS
The range of pay for this position is $20-$25/hr, dependent on related experience, certifications, and employee performance.
