Job Description
Keep the fleet moving and the rigs running — with a path to grow well beyond the driver's seat. Texas Southern Drilling has completed over 1,100 water wells and built a reputation we protect like it's everything — because it is. We run modern hydraulic equipment, hold high standards, and we're based in Columbus, TX, serving roughly 15 counties around our home base of Colorado County — east toward the Houston area and west toward San Antonio. Depending on the day and equipment logistics, crews may meet closer to job sites, but availability and getting equipment where it needs to go always come first. That wide service area is a strength: when rain shuts down work in one spot, we adapt and keep moving in another, so our team and our customers never sit still. We protect a 5-star reputation — not just online, but in our clients' hearts and inside our own team.
How we do it:
we do quality work the first time and we don't cut corners to go faster. And we run on honesty and humility — we'd rather work with someone who says "I don't know this yet, show me" and is hungry to learn than someone who fakes it, stays quiet, and puts the team in a bad spot. Asking good questions is a strength here, not a weakness. What this actually is:
This role keeps our operation rolling. Right now that means driving water trucks and moving rigs and equipment for our drilling team, and keeping those trucks and rigs mechanically sound. But we're not looking for someone who just wants to drive and clock out. We want a problem-solver who owns the fleet like it's their own and keeps growing in the role. Our team stays well-rounded, so you may lend a hand on the crew where we need help — the best people here like learning more than one part of the business. We pay for the certifications and development that expand what you can do here. Who we're looking for: You take care of your equipment like you own it. You catch the small problem before it becomes a breakdown. You're reliable, you use common sense, and you're honest and humble enough to flag what you don't know instead of guessing. You push yourself to learn more without being asked, with an experienced team behind you, and you work well with a crew that depends on you to be where you said you'd be. You want a career, not just a route. What you'll do: Drive water trucks and safely transport rigs, equipment, and materials to and from job sites Perform and track maintenance on trucks, rigs, and equipment Diagnose mechanical issues and keep downtime low Support the crew on site as needed Keep the fleet road-ready and help us run a tighter operation Travel across our service area — typically day trips, with multi-day drilling-support runs at times What you bring: Valid CDL, or the ability to obtain one — we'll pay for it for the right person Mechanic background — you can diagnose and fix, not just report problems Honesty and humility — you flag what you don't know instead of guessing Clean driving record Reliability and ownership — the crew counts on you Comfortable working outdoors in Texas conditions; able to lift up to 100 lbs 25 or older (insurance requirement) Why TSD:
You'll learn more here, and faster, than almost anywhere else — and you won't be stuck in one lane. You're a name here, not a number, on a tight team that trusts you to own your work and backs you when you need it. And we bet on your future: we pay for your licensing, apprenticeship fees, continuing education, study materials, and CDL. We're not renting your labor — we're investing in you. What we offer:
Competitive salary plus incentive bonuses We pay for your path: licensing, apprenticeship fees, continuing education, study materials, and CDL Long-term potential to earn six figures as a licensed professional Healthcare stipend (with HSA-eligible plan options), paid holidays, and paid time off A tight team that trusts you to own your work and a real chance to grow with us This role is a paid salary position; the annual range reflects expected full-time earnings. Based in Columbus, TX. Must be commutable to our operation. Pay:
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year Benefits:
Dental insurance Health insurance Health savings account On-the-job training Paid time off Professional development assistance Tools provided People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Application Question(s): Describe a problem at work that didn't have an obvious solution. How did you think through it — what options did you consider, and why did you choose the one you did? License/Certification:
CDL (Required) Ability to Commute:
Columbus, TX 78934 (Required) Work Location:
In person
