Full Job Description Upfitter/Fabricator Job Overview:
Truck Body & Equipment Installation Technician The Truck Shop is a premier Heavy and Medium Duty Commercial Truck and Trailer Dealership known for quality, craftsmanship, and a workplace culture that values safety and skilled professionals. From single-unit delivery operations to large fleet builds, we are trusted for our quality-driven approach, deep industry knowledge, and personalized customer support. We are looking to add a Truck Body & Equipment Installation Technician to our team. This is a highly sought-after opportunity for a skilled technician who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a dealership that sets the standard in the industry. Our technicians work on a wide range of high-quality projects including truck body installations, PTO systems, liftgates, walk ramps, hitches, custom fabrication, hydraulics, lighting, and specialized commercial truck equipment. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and excels at problem-solving. Prior experience with truck bodies and commercial truck equipment is preferred, along with strong mechanical aptitude and vehicle electrical system knowledge. This role may involve occasional welding and fabrication as part of installations, but it is not a dedicated welding position. Job Duties Work in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship Install truck bodies including, but not limited to: Van bodies Flatbeds Dump beds Install equipment including, but not limited to: Liftgates Walk ramps Toolboxes Wet kits Headache racks Grill guards Lighting and accessories Organize and maintain workspaces and production areas for maximum efficiency Accurately read and use a tape measure and perform layout calculations Fit, fabricate, and weld metal components as required for installations Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems during installation and upfit processes Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and customer expectations are met Work independently and collaboratively with team members to complete builds efficiently
Qualifications:
Mechanical background and strong electrical systems knowledge required Prior truck equipment, fabrication, or upfitting experience preferred Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Welding and fabrication experience preferred Good math skills and layout experience Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability Good verbal and written communication skills Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude Ability to regularly lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must provide own tools, toolbox, and welding helmet with appropriate protective lens Ability to safely operate equipment including but not limited to: Drills, Table saws, Chop saws, Grinders, Forklifts, Welders, Sawzall's, Various hand and power tools Physical Requirements Frequently standing for extended periods during installation and repair tasks Frequently lifting components and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of hand and power tools requiring dexterity and coordination Ability to work in confined spaces, under vehicles, kneeling, crawling, and lying down as needed to access equipment and components
Work Schedule :
Monday•Friday, 8am•5pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch

$25•$40 per hour to start
