Job Description

Job Type & Location Avionics Technician in Birmingham, AL Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated Avionics Technician to join our team and support aircraft connectivity upgrades, with a primary focus on Wi‑Fi system installations, modifications, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in avionics maintenance, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced aviation environment. Key Responsibilities Perform installation, modification, and integration of aircraft Wi‑Fi systems, including antennas, routers, wiring, and associated avionics components. Conduct functional tests, inspections, and verification of connectivity systems to ensure compliance with engineering documentation and regulatory standards. Read, interpret, and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering orders, and STC documentation. Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions on avionics and connectivity equipment. Document all work performed in accordance with FAA, company, and OEM requirements. Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to ensure successful project execution. Maintain a safe, organized work environment and adhere to all safety protocols. Required Qualifications 2+ years of avionics technician experience in an MRO, OEM, or Part 145 repair station environment. Working knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, wiring practices, and avionics components. Experience performing Wi‑Fi or connectivity system installations (e.g., Gogo, Viasat, Panasonic, Starlink, etc.) is strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals. Familiarity with FAA regulations, standard practices, and documentation requirements. Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Preferred Skills Experience with STC‑based modification programs. Knowledge of RF systems, antenna installations, and network hardware. A&P license or formal avionics training (not required but a plus). Experience with business jets or commercial aircraft connectivity upgrades. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
