Job Description
Avionics Assembly Technician fabricates, installs, and troubleshoots fly-by-wire spacecraft avionics hardware and wiring systems in a manufacturing environment. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years of experience in aircraft fabrication and assembly or equivalent industry experience Experience with aircraft wire harness fabrication and installation Experience with LRU build-up and installation Ability to use computer applications to follow manufacturing work instructions Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and digital or paper models Experience with harness installation, wire tying, wire bundle routing, wire stripping, terminations, continuity checks, and troubleshooting Experience using shop tools and equipment including multimeters, soldering irons, crimpers, wire strippers, and cutters Preferred Skills Knowledge of current manufacturing practices Experience with spacecraft manufacturing techniques Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) training Experience assessing and repairing malfunctioning systems Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and philosophies Experience supporting installation, design, development, and testing of aerospace components and systems Experience with Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness and prevention practices Job Responsibilities Fabricate and assemble avionics components for installation on spacecraft Install wire harnesses, data acquisition units, and sensors Perform harness installation, wire tying, bundle routing, wire stripping, terminations, and continuity checks Troubleshoot wiring and avionics installation issues Support manufacturing activities related to installation, design, development, and testing of aerospace parts and technologies Provide technical input for assessment, repair, and maintenance recommendations Complete moderately difficult manufacturing assignments and resolve production issues Ensure quality and efficiency of installations Follow assembly instructions to complete complex project assemblies accurately Use shop tools and machinery to support spacecraft manufacturing operations Follow safety procedures, FOD prevention practices, and regulatory requirements
