Job Description
Avionics Technician - F‑16 (OCONUS, Romania) This position supports the F‑16 Training Center at the 86th Air Base near Borcea, Romania . You'll work hands‑on in an avionics shop performing repair, testing, and troubleshooting on F‑16 avionics components, primarily at the intermediate level . Your main focus will be circuit cards, avionics LRUs, and electrical/RF cable assemblies , ensuring all equipment is properly repaired, tested, documented, and returned to service in accordance with technical standards. This role is well‑suited for an experienced F‑16 avionics technician who is comfortable working independently, collaborating with a team, and solving complex technical problems in a fast‑paced environment. What You'll Do Repair, modify, and troubleshoot avionics circuit cards and electronic assemblies Perform component‑level repairs using schematics, technical manuals, and work instructions Build, install, and repair electrical and RF cable assemblies and wire harnesses Test and repair F‑16 avionics line replaceable units (LRUs) Diagnose and repair failures in test stations and support equipment Use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, and RF generators Apply proper soldering techniques to avionics components and circuit cards Analyze test data and failure trends to identify root causes and support corrective actions Accurately document all maintenance and repairs Track parts, materials, tools, and maintain tool control Communicate clearly with teammates and support a high‑performance work environment Follow all safety, quality, and ITAR requirements What You Need 6+ years of F‑16 avionics experience in an intermediate‑level shop Military avionics technical school and prior service experience Strong hands‑on skills with F‑16 avionics testing, troubleshooting, and repair Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation Experience with component‑level circuit card repair and soldering Familiarity with avionics test equipment and support systems Strong attention to detail and good documentation habits Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment ITAR‑compliant citizenship status Nice to Have Ability to obtain a security clearance FAA A, P, or A&P license Experience beyond F‑16 platforms Experience with electrical systems or flight control computers (FCC) Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn new systems Why This Role Pay above market rates Medical benefits from day one 401(k) with company match after a short waiting period Paid time off available immediately Company‑provided housing, transportation, travel, and tools Minimal out‑of‑pocket costs for the assignment Opportunity to focus on mission‑critical work overseas Work Environment You'll work onsite at a military F‑16 training base in Romania in an avionics shop or hangar setting.
